“To move, to breathe, to fly, to float,
To gain all while you give,
To roam the roads of lands remote,
To travel is to live.”
— Hans Christian Andersen
I DON’T know about you, but I dream of escaping from the hustle and bustle of life every other day. With our busy lives, though, it’s easier dreamt than done. So when I finally do go somewhere, I make sure they’re places where I’d make some good memories — memories that are nice to look back on when I need to “run away” for a little while.
I call them my Happy Places.
A Happy Place means different things to different people. For me, my Happy Places are where I’d spent some of the best travel moments of my life with my husband — where I felt free, got a little lost, where we re-connected with each other, coupled with lots and lots of explorations. I enjoy reminiscing these times.
My top three Happy Places are Wales, Italy and Bali.
Wales in the United Kingdom is where my husband grew up, and where we got married in an enchanted castle by the beach. He proposed to me in Italy, where we also spent weeks road-tripping as a newly-engaged couple, just stuffing our faces with amazing pasta, gelato and espresso… And we like to go to Bali whenever we needed a short break, to go in search of unadulterated wonders of the beautiful island.
Over the years, I’ve found many other Happy Places, but these three will always have a special place in my heart.
