WHO’S THE #GIRLBOSS?

Sophia Amoruso

I love a good, inspiring success story as much as the next girl with a big dream. Especially one of the rags-to-riches variety. So when Sophia Amoruso — founder and CEO of NastyGal, who literally made her riches from rags — announces that she’s launching her book, #GIRLBOSS, on May 6, I promptly went to my bookshelf to make just enough space for the 256-pager (taking the hardcover into consideration, of course) right after I pre-ordered it on Amazon. (The ABCs of success contains the letters OCD, haven’t you heard?)

Anyway, here’s what 29-year-old Amoruso has to say about her book, in a nutshell: “From the food bank to making bank, #GIRLBOSS is the story of how I tried to escape capitalism — and ended up a CEO. At age 17, I was a dumpster-diving, shoplifting anarchist, but by 29, I’d turned Nasty Gal into a $100+ million business. #GIRLBOSS shares all the lessons I learned along the way. I can’t wait for you to read it.”

And while we all wait for the arrival of what I am almost certain will be a book full of outrageously quotable quotes, here are a few to keep you amused and inspired:
.

“A #GIRLBOSS IS IN CHARGE OF HER OWN LIFE. SHE GETS WHAT SHE WANTS BECAUSE SHE WORKS FOR IT.”

“THEY WERE FROM THE PEDIGREED WORLD OF MBAS AND REAL CAREERS. I WAS JUST AN INTERLOPER IN A BLACK SABBATH SHIRT.”

“YOU DON’T GET WHAT YOU DON’T ASK FOR.”
