The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness.
Tell us one thing you are grateful for today, and why.
Inspired by our conversations with WoW Women like Lucinda Law and Viola Tan in our #BareWithMe series — a collaboration with Porcelain — we started thinking about gratitude, a word that keeps coming up. It seems to play a crucial part in reframing our reality, guiding us to see beauty in life, in the little things, in ourselves. So, we decided to take this positivity up a notch, and invite you to hop on this gratefulness train.
And boy, did you guys RSVP with enthusiasm and so much love. Thank you for your generosity and beautiful souls. The response was amazing. We know how uncomfortable and even scary it is to open up — and on a public space at that. We are so grateful right now. Reading your messages inspired us so much that we have no choice but to spread the good vibes.
Here are the highlights from the bumper haul. We hope you will find a little inspiration, a little courage and a lot of gratitude today, every day. 🙏🏻
“There is nowhere I’d rather be than right here right now because at this moment, I feel that everything is just enough. There is nothing I crave nor covet at this moment — just a feeling of contentment. And that is a kind of happiness for me. For this, I am grateful :)”
“I’m grateful for being able to wake up from my bed every morning. Nothing is more precious than the gift of life!”
“My daughters who never fail to remind me how beautiful I am inside and out. When I’m having one of those ‘bad face’ days, I’ve learned to be carefree like a child, to constantly wear a smile, to be grateful for what I have, so that I can look and feel beautiful, every day. I’m grateful that they bring optimism and girl power.”
“I work as a psychologist, and I face various people with special needs from all walks of life every day. I remind myself to be thankful and grateful for it is always through witnessing so much that I realise what are the things that truly matter in life — and the things that don’t. Wealth and riches may be glamorous, but it is a healthy, happy family, and friends who sincerely love (me) that I am thankful for every day. I am a lucky girl to be so loved, and to have the chance to spread this love ☺”
“Today, and every single day since the birth of my son last year, I have been so grateful that I am given the opportunity to be his mother. Looking at his face, I always feel like the luckiest person on earth every day. What did I do to deserve him? He’s the joy of my life. I am grateful not only for him, his presence in my life, but also for the opportunity to see the world through his eyes.”
“I am very blessed to be surrounded by so many people who love me and care for me. There are just too many (of them) to be grateful for or to be tagged in this post. But I always have (someone) I can rely on, and I know that she will always try to understand me and not judge me for who I am because she knows me. Although we are very busy with our respective lives now, we still try our best to make an effort to connect with each other. And she will always have a place in my heart 🙂 Thank you, my best friend.”
“Be kind and helpful to people around you. We all cross paths for a reason and they may even be the one to save your life. No words can express how thankful and touched I am to be able to receive help from people whom I have/have never met. If not for your courage and generosity, I would not be here today. I am extremely grateful to all blood donors, you guys are truly my unsung heroes! To be able to survive my battle and live every day is a blessing.”
“Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve experienced so much and I’ve spent so much time trying to wrap my head around it all. It has been a time of great flux, of discovery, many moments of self doubt and fear that at times it felt overwhelming and dislocating. But the one thing that has remained constant has been this sense of gratitude and an open heart, receptive to everything that life was throwing at me. This practice of mindful, conscious gratitude has allowed me to truly let go of the little setbacks, moments of self doubt, of frustration and to be focused on the things that truly matter.
I start and end each day with a practice of gratitude, reflecting on what I’m grateful for, and in the past couple of weeks, I’ve been most grateful for relationships, endless conversations and the present of presence I’ve been gifted with. I’ve been so blessed to be surrounded by so many incredible souls who have truly lifted and supported me in so many different ways. I’m grateful for the unexpected conversations that stretched hours over lazy brunches, or too much sake and copious bottles of wine.”
